With the Wind

A single auburn leaf
Dances with the wind
Singing silently
Counting its precise steps
One, two, three
As the orchestra plays
The whooshing of the December air
Along with the rustling of the leaf chorus
I remember you
Graceful and polite
Modestly swaying with change
Driven by a spirit, something
Fiery and free
Ephemeral, fleeting
Dancing with the wind.

it’s a tree at home with wide leaves that it sheds during the -ber months. you remember the two trees we used for shade during my birthday? those are banaba trees.

for a fun fact, the leaves of the banaba can be boiled, its “soup” can be drunk to induce diuresis. haha, nerdy.

      • Ah. Familiar sa kin ang banaba but I don’t really know what it is. (: Nerd ka naman talaga. No use hiding it. πŸ˜›
