Waiting Room

Tick-tock, tick-tock
Past two strikes the clock
Waiting in a waiting room
A lifetime in the eternal loom
Outside, what is it like outside
All of it hidden behind
A white wall with a “Wait Here” sign
The room smelling of that pine
Scent in those crowded cars
Strangely becoming missed by the passing hours
In a waiting room with no magazine
With those sanctimonious ads of the bourgeoisie
No crossword puzzle to do
Just time enough to think of you.
