Maybe

Maybe I love you, but maybe you don’t.
Maybe I want you, but maybe you won’t.
Maybe we are really for each other,
Or maybe I shouldn’t even bother.

Who knows what the fates hold for you and I,
What the stars foretell upon the night sky.
Who knows what lies beyond the horizon,
What the wind whispers to the hearts wizened.

Things are going well, but will these all last?
When on you seeks vengeance ghosts of my past?
Endure shall this love be, shall it crumble?
Take heed, stand fast lest this fondness tumble.

Let dear virtue guide the pilgrims doubtful,
They who are tried by the fire deceitful.
Tempted by the temptors and hopes of gain,
Guide them through wild course or put all to vain.

Maybe I love you, but maybe you don’t.
Maybe I want you, but maybe you won’t.
Maybe we are really for each other,
Or maybe I shouldn’t even bother.
