On Defeat

Teach me how to forget you forever,
Help me move on to the course of my life.
And when your mem’ry comes back to me nev’r,
Shall this pain finally cease to be rife.

Yet to forget would leave a part of me
With you, likewise, to me, a part of you.
How then can I forget you completely?
They will all come back to haunt I and you.

Sometimes, to surrender would be nobler
Than to keep on fighting for a lost cause.
To fight is brave yet to lose is braver.
To hold on is foolish when one’s at loss.
