Triumph

How does one win? How does one succeed?

“To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.” This is one of my favorite quotes in Sun Tzu’s Art of War.

To win is one thing, not to lose is another. Hence this saying: “A good defense is the best offense.” Victory is not in you. Victory is in the enemy himself. To win, one must not focus on the enemy but on oneself. Why? Because it is our choice, our will, our cunning, our zeal that will ensure that defeat will not come upon us. It is the enemy’s weakness that will make one triumphant. Therefore, exploit the enemy’s weakness and strengthen yours. Weaken your enemy’s strength and bolster yours. Such is the art of war…

Heh… in that small quote I came up with this. And it has helped me through life.
